VMS Ltd has invested in an additional learning space at its accredited training centre in Islip, Northamptonshire in response to increased demand for courses.

The new classroom forms part of  the training arm of the business, VMT Ltd, and complements both its classroom and workshop in Islip alongside a workshop at Boughton.

With parking for vehicles and machinery available just outside the classroom, students can move directly from the theory to illustrating the vehicle and plant features, before either putting those skills into practice on site, or at one of the company’s designated, specialised areas.

Speaking of the investment, training department manager at VMT Ltd, Helen Mallett said: “We are delighted to be able to invest in another learning space for our accredited training centre.

“We’re passionate that teaching spaces allow our candidates to come and learn in a calm and comfortable environment and were think that this one is just that!

“The new classroom also works well for our smaller groups while giving us extra flexibility to teach our accredited tractor, winch, towing and 4×4 courses, so that the candidates have immediate access to the kit outside and ready supply of learning materials inside,” continues Helen. “It has also found a use for revision during our LOLER assessments!”

In the last six months alone, VMS Ltd has onboarded 16 new recruits. The growth of the team is in response to growing demand for skilled roles in vegetation management, landscaping and arboriculture.

Helen said: “Our new hires include four apprentices, alongside operatives, arborists and a contract manager.

“All new starters receiving a wealth of relevant training alongside ongoing learning opportunities to develop their skills and grow their careers within the company. That’s why the addition of the new classroom is essential to help us continue to build a stronger, future-ready workforce.”
